Self-Compassion
Self-Compassion is a primary key to healing, however, many people feel stuck in shame, “imposter syndrome”, low self-esteem and self-sabotaging behavior and thinking. This is a defense that arose in childhood.
I can help you focus on letting go of feeling “not good enough” by showing you the possible origins of this defense and helping you find ways to replace this way of thinking.

Self-Compassion
So many people struggle with shame, imposter syndrome, self-sabotage, and low self-esteem. Especially those who are seeking healing from traumas they have experienced in early childhood. Growing in self-compassion is a key to counteracting the effects of shame. During your journey, memories of past traumas may arise, or you may gain clarity on events and circumstances you recall. Often, thoughts of “not good enough” emerge and feel overwhelming. These feelings can cause you to feel isolated and alone. Your consideration of yourself as deserving of peace and happiness will be enhanced by learning about and gaining additional self-compassion.
Body, Mind, Spirit
You are a whole person. Psychedelic work may help you feel connected to your inner world, including parts of self. In your prep and integration work, it’s important to address all aspects of your human experience. My extensive work as a therapist has given me many opportunities for training in a variety of modalities. However, my focus has been on the “art” of therapy, rather than a focus on any one way of healing. This viewpoint has given me the freedom to think outside the box, so to speak, and I can work creatively with your stated needs.
Under the medical model of “mental illness”, the focus is on symptoms and usually, medication that many are told they’ll have to take for the rest of their lives. Perhaps you have had experience with this and decided to give psychedelics a chance. Investing your time and resources into the preparation and integration process can help you make the most of your journey.

What are the types of trauma?
Complex trauma is exposure to varied and multiple traumatic events, within an environment of insecurity and mistrust. Complex trauma is relational and happens in families or other group situations. It includes a combination of “big T and little t” trauma.
Acute trauma results from a single incident such as a car crash, natural disaster or loss of one’s home via fire or other means.
Community trauma is described as traumas experienced by people of the community, including poverty and racism, or an event that impacts a few people but has long-term, pervasive consequences to the structure and functioning of the community.
Religious or spiritual trauma can happen in families, churches, secular groups and even psychedelic environments. “Spiritual trauma occurs as a result of events that threaten and damage our core spiritual values and goals. This can be a result of either abuse by religious/spiritual figures or being raised with a toxic and overbearing interpretation of that religion or spiritual belief.” Hala Shamsi, RSW
