I care about “what happened to you” and I strive to provide a supportive space for you to share your concerns.
Effective work can result in your improved ability to function and to pursue your best life. I offer acceptance without judgment, practical tools, constructive education and a conviction that you are capable!
I have facilitated healing in many settings: military and civilian substance abuse treatment (adults and teens), in-home therapy, crisis center, inpatient trauma treatment, outpatient group treatment and private practice. I have over 26 years' experience helping others find self-compassion and joy for life. I am fully trained to use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), SoulCollage®, Trauma-Informed Cognitive Work, Somatic Awareness Exercises and many more modalities. All these tools are important and useful, but what is most important is the connection that develops between us.

Trauma-Informed Treatment Is An Approach To Therapy That Recognizes The Impact Of Trauma On A Person’s Mental, Physical, Emotional, And Spiritual Health.
It is designed to provide a safe and supportive environment where you can process and heal from traumatic experiences. Trauma-informed treatment takes into account the interrelatedness of trauma symptoms and utilizes techniques that align with the principles of safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment. The goal of trauma-informed treatment is to help you cope with how your past experiences affect your present, establish healthier relationships, and regain a sense of control over your life.
Trauma-Informed approach is founded on compassion and a recognition that all humans experience trauma in their lives. It requires a paradigm shift that includes a change of attitude, and a change of heart, for those who have been trained in the medical model. You may have been re-traumatized by professionals and systems that were not trauma-informed and focused on symptoms (“what’s wrong with you”).
As a trauma-informed thinker, I believe that all humans possess strengths and as survivors have demonstrated courage with resiliency. Victimization must be acknowledged and validated, but individuals’ assets are utilized in an empowerment process. If these principles are engaged, every human interaction can be improved and each person involved may be honored and fulfilled.
